Early Leader Seperating From The Rest Of The Pack?

It's early, the first lap is still three weeks away, so there are plenty of tournaments remaining; that said, thanks to Charlie Beljan's second place finish, the Witnits are off to such a strong start that it will now be very difficult for all but the top seven or eight teams to overtake them.  Although, apparently Brandt Snedeker has withdrawn from the WGC Match Play due to sore ribs.  And, the cap always comes into play, meaning that ultimately you need a strong overall team to win, so maybe there is still hope for the lagging teams.  But the early leaders tend to be in the mix all year long, and the teams further down the standings more often than not stay there unless one or more of their players gets on a major hot-streak.  As such, any of the teams currently in the bottom half of the standings will likely need a win within the next few weeks if they are going to be competitive.

  1. The Witnits have a long ( and not so storied ) history in the MacKay golf pool. The best they have finished to date was third circa 1998, winning approx. $500.00. This was under the original guidance of founding nitwits Higgs and Hope ( due to their dyslexia they became the Witnits). Since then, the composition of their team has been vague and disjointed ( somewhat like their picks ). This year, after consulting a local oracle at the Fraser Arms Lounge, the Witnits were able to channel the ghost of Old Tom Morris, who was kind enough to 'gi 'em a few tips'. There's still a long way to go, but with a few wee drams of Lagavulin under their belts, they have a chance.

    1. Contrary to this anonymous submission above, the Witnits are not a vague and disjointed group. Very are much the opposite in fact. We are a combination of busy, hard working people that cannot all make it to the draft on an annual basis so unfortunately we seem to have to scramble just to have someone at the table. But there is an excellent comraderie amongst the team and of course we are enjoying the early good start we are off to this year but realize it is a long season and things could change. However, we are the types that enjoy being part of the draft for all that it brings and will accept with grace any spoils that come our way but will applaud anyone else who cashes in. So identify yourself anonymous one for we are supposed to be a fraternity, a brotherhood who has each other's back and that means that you have to let it be okay if we win some money or even the title (that would be something wouldn't it). Carry on brothers! Phil Stanyer- Witnit member for approximately 12 years
