The First Major Is On Deck

The Masters has arrived, so get ready to listen to Jim Nantz spew hyperbole about flowers and old golfers until it hurts.  Personal opinion, but give me the understated presence of a Pat Summerall or Vin Skully any day over the "I am the show" persona that typifies many of the contemporary sports announcers.  At least Cosell, however,  was entertaining, but there is no way a guy like him gets hired today by the advertiser friendly corporations that operate the networks.  Now it's all vanilla all the time, even the caustic Johnny Miller's shtick is limited to criticizing those who don't affect his paycheck.

That said, the tournament looks promising with TIger on the prowl, Rory seems to have gotten his act together, Snedeker is back, and the field is deep.  So, hopefully it will be a compelling weekend, just remember to use the old mute button when Jim starts waxing on.  That is unless you enjoy hearing about azaleas.

FYI: I should be able to post the updated standings next Sunday night.
